2-Piece General Purpose Rod Ends

These are economy style rod ends and are metal-to-metal, meaning the ball rides on a formed portion of the steel body. Metal-to-metal allows for a fairly high misalignment capability with good strength / cost. Popular in linkage applications

3-Piece General Purpose Rod Ends

These are general purpose rod ends featuring a heated treated race for the ball to ride on. The "race" component is located between the housing and the ball. The advantage is a closer fit and a higher degree of precision is achieved between the ball and race. The 3-piece rod end also has a larger bearing surface giving it better wear over time. 3-piece style rod ends have less misalignment capability than 2-piece CM / CF series rod ends but are similar in strength.

3-Piece, Oversize Body, General Purpose Rod Ends

These are general purpose rod ends offering all the benefits of a normal 3-piece plus additional strength because of the oversize body that is one size larger than the bore. Mild steel construction allows for a low-cost part.

Specialty Racing Aluminum Rod Ends

These aluminum rod ends are made from 7075-T6. These are a 3-piece rod end featuring a heat-treated race. A race is an insert which is formed around the ball. The advantage of this type of construction is a closer fit and a higher degree of precision is achieved between the ball and race.

High Misalignment Rod Ends

These 3-piece rod ends feature 18 to 23 degrees of misalignment. The body is constructed of 4340 to offer a high strength part.
