6061-T6 Aluminum Round Tube Specifications
6061 is one the most versatile of the heat-treatable aluminum alloys. It has good formability and weldability, as well as high corrosion resistance. Additionally, 6061 offers a wide range of mechanical properties and can be fabricated by many of the commonly used techniques. 6061 is the most economical of the heat-treatable aluminums.
6061 round tubes can be supplied as:
Drawn or Extruded
Produced to the aerospace specification AMS WW-T-700/6, Drawn tubes are more suitable for bending applications. Produced in 12-foot lengths.
Typically produced to ASTM-B221 and QQ-A-200/8 specifications. Extruded tubes generally do not perform well in most bending applications. Typically produced in 24-foot lengths.
