Indianapolis, IN (December 13, 2014) – Today, the Motorsports Safety Education Foundation (MSEF) presented its mission and vision for the future of motorsports safety education and awareness at the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Indianapolis.

In addition to unveiling the beta version of its interactive learning platform for racers, MSEF announced its Board of Directors and Steering Committee, both of which include highly lauded industry professionals. The Board of Directors includes Mike Long of Eagle Motorsports, Al Lowe of AED Motorsports Products, Murf McKinney of McKinney Corp, and Tom Weisenbach of MSEF, formerly of the Indiana Motorsports Association.

"This is such an important initiative for our sport so we're thrilled to be launching the Foundation here at PRI," MSEF Executive Director Tom Weisenbach said. "We look forward to sharing this new cutting edge technology to educate the racers on safety."

The board will look to its Steering Committee for high-level guidance. Steering Committee members include Tom Gideon of NASCAR, Glenn Gray of NHRA, Dr. Robert Hubbard of HANS, Arni Kuhns of SFI, John Medlen of John Force Racing, John MacKichan of Speedway Motors Inc., Tait McKinney of McKinney Corporation, Steve Sinclair of K&K Insurance and John Stanbrough, USAC Sprint Car Driver.

World Racing Group will be among the first to partner with MSEF to design a curriculum for drivers that participate in events under the DIRTCar umbrella. The platform will debut for World Racing Group in 2015.

"World Racing Group recognized the need for a program like the one that the Motorsports Safety Education Foundation designed that specifically helps raise the standards for safety education and awareness in the sport,” said Joe Skotnicki, Competition Director at World Racing Group. “We look at our partnership with MSEF as a great avenue to educate racers as well as assist in developing younger generations of racers for years to come as the sport continues to grow."

The foundation will look to secure funding and add additional sanctioning bodies to the platform during the 2015 calendar year.
